Welcome to my kitchen studio. Yes it is my kitchen and a very small space, but the heart to my home and I love it. Big things can come out of a small space and although it would be ideal to have a proper wet room, I make do and it shows that not all artists have the wow factor studio and yet nothing holds me back from creating. Actually I think the artwork has an imbued acceptance and warmth to it, like a long lost love.
Some pieces actually represent family and mostly all reflect my Nan Rita Dalton’s story, so in a way they are family. Lots of yarning, giggles and cocktails take place here and I make no apologies for the occasional happy snap that has nothing to do with art. I also wanted a space to upload random pics of amazing pasta creations in the hope that someone appreciates my food. Teenagers seem to eat like savages and don’t really appreciate the parsley on the top.
Furthermore, family and friends become highly involved in the making and critiquing process and surprisingly the odd comment from my beautiful boys even adds to the opinions. I’m pretty sure they are over vaginas vases and art by now.
In this space I paint, sculpt, cook (lots of pasta and banana bread) even though I have an allergy to bananas, but that doesn’t stop me from loving it and dream the biggest dreams a girl can dream with what she is given. I couldn’t ask for anything more.
